Kaleb Bannick scored three goals Tuesday, leading the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes to a 6-0 win at Altamont.

Alex Deters, Jack Poelker and Alessio Bucciarelli also had goals, as the Shoes improved to 6-2 on the season.

The T-Town junior varsity team dropped a 1-0 decision.

The Shoes will play Saturday at ALAH.

Four different players scored goals Saturday, helping Teutopolis post a 4-1 soccer win at Mt. Vernon.

Alessio Bucciarelli, Derek Deters, Linus Tanneryd and Noah Hemmen each scored, as the Shoes improved to 5-2 on the season.

Mt. Vernon prevailed in the junior varsity contest by a score of 2-0.

The Shoes will play Tuesday at Altamont.

Goalie Seth Emmerich proved to be real stingy Saturday, failing to allow a single goal in two matches, helping the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes post a pair of wins and finish third overall in the St. Anthony/Teutopolis Soccer Tournament.

The Shoes opened with a 2-0 shutout over Altamont Saturday and then blanked St. Anthony 5-0 in the event’s final match.

Kaleb Bannick had two goals for T-Town against the Bulldogs, while Alex Deters, Derek Deters and Alessio Bucciarelli each scored one to help Teutopolis improve to 3-2 on the season.

“We tried to play a defensive game since we knew Teutopolis plays a good game, plus some of our players were not 100 percent,” said St. Anthony coach Martin Reyes.”

St. Anthony goalie Ivan Dong had six saves in the first half, but the Shoes still scored twice to take a 2-0 edge at intermission. THS added three more goals in the second half against Bulldogs goalie Reilly Ashton, who also had four saves.

Mt. Carmel and Newton both went 4-0, but Mt. Carmel won the tie-breaker to claim the tournament championship.

In Saturday’s first match, the Bulldogs were topped 2-1 by Pinckneyville.

A goal by Jack Elder, after a throw-in by Aston, gave St. Anthony a 1-0 lead early in the second half. But Pinckneyville responded by scoring twice, the winning goal coming midway through the half.

“It was a very physical game,” Reyes noted. “We had a lot of players hurting or cramping by the end of the game. Overall, I thought we did well in this tournament and I’m confident we’ll get better the more we play.”

St. Anthony will return to action Tuesday with a home match against Effingham.

Teutopolis will also play at home Tuesday against Charleston.

The Teutopolis soccer team improved to 4-2 on the season after posting a 2-1 victory Tuesday at home against Charleston.

Linus Tannery and Derek Deters had the goals for the Wooden Shoes.

The T-Town junior varsity team played to a 1-1 tie.

The Shoes will return to action Saturday with a match at Mt. Vernon.

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes opened their 2019 fall soccer season in dominant fashion Tuesday.

Teutopolis scored the first six goals of the match and went on to post a 7-2 victory at home over Harrisburg in an opening-round contest of the St. Anthony/Teutopolis Soccer Invitational.

The tournament, hosted by both St. Anthony and Teutopolis, includes 10 teams and will continue Thursday and Saturday at both locations.

Alesia Bucciarelli scored three goals for the Shoes and Derek Deters added two more to spark the offense. Linus Tannery and Kaleb Bannick also added a goal apiece.

THS got on the board at the 10:53 mark of the first half and then added four more goals before the half ended to build a 5-0 lead at intermission. T-Town made it 6-0 just three minutes into the second half. Harrisburg scored two goals, but the Shoes wrapped up the scoring with their final goal with about five minutes to go.

Teutopolis had 23 shots on goal, compared to just 6 for Harrisburg. Seth Emmerich was the goalie for the Shoes.

The Shoes will return to action at home Thursday with a 6:30 p.m. match against Mt. Carmel. On Saturday, T-Town will play at 11 a.m. against Altamont. That match will be played on the St. Anthony field. Then at 3 p.m., the Shoes will return home to face St. Anthony.
