The Teutopolis soccer team continued its fine play Monday evening with a 2-0 victory at home over Effingham.

Alex Deters scored a goal at the 27:58 mark of the first half and Linus Tanneryd added a penalty kick goal in the second half to lead the Shoes.

“We want to say a huge thank you to everybody that came out to support the two teams tonight,” said THS coach Aaron Wendt. “With the help of the local community, we were able to raise money for the Kinkelaar and Lohman families and bring attention to Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

“We are lucky and proud to be a part of such a loving and supportive community,” Wendt added. “Please keep Vivie Kinkelaar and Dawson Lohman, along with all other children suffering from cancer, in your thoughts.”

The Shoes, who improved to 11-2 on the season, will play Thursday at Centralia.

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes continued their fine play Saturday, posting a 6-1 soccer victory at home over Carlyle.

Linus Tanneryd had a hat trick, scoring three goals in the second half to help the Shoes pull away and improve to 10-2 on the season.

Jack Poelker had the THS goal in the first half. Then Tanneryd scored three times, plus Derek Deters and Kaleb Bannick added goals in the second half.

The Shoes will return to action today (Monday) at home against Effingham.

There will be a goodwill donation bucket at the entrance and a tip jar at the concession stand to benefit two local families affected by childhood cancer. All of the money raised will go to Jenny and Nick Kinkelaar, and their daughter Vivie Kinkelaar; and Jody and Matt Lohman, and their son, Dawson Lohman; to help with costs from the disease.

Teutopolis fans are asked to wear gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness and the Effingham fans are asked to wear red for love and support.

The junior varsity game will begin at 4 p.m. today, followed by the varsity match at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Teutopolis scored four first-half goals to build an early lead Monday afternoon and rolled to a 9-2 soccer victory at Pana.

Linus Tanneryd and Kaleb Bannick both scored three goals to help the Wooden Shoes improve to 8-2 on the season.

Tanneryd and Bannick both had goals in the first half, as did Derek Deters and Alessio Bucciarelli. But T-Town wasn’t finished and tacked on five more goals in the second half. Tanneryd and Bannick scored within two minutes of each other early in the second half and then combined to score the final two goals. Jack Poelker also scored for THS in the second half.

The Shoes will play at home Thursday against St. Anthony.

Linus Tanneyrd scored two goals Thursday, leading Teutopolis to a 3-1 soccer victory at home over St. Anthony.

Tanneryd scored at the 25:56 mark of the first half and then added another goal at the 12:45 mark of the second half. Derek Deters, off an assist from Alex Deters, completed the scoring for the Wooden Shoes.

The Teutopolis junior varsity team also posted a win, blanking the Bulldogs 3-0.

T-Town improved to 9-2 on the season. It will play at home Saturday against Carlyle.

St. Anthony will also play at home Saturday against Olney.

Jack Poelker, Derek Deters and Linus Tanneryd each scored two goals Saturday, helping the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes post a 10-0 win at Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond (ALAH).

Alessio Bucciarelli, Alex Deters and Kaleb Bannick also scored for the Shoes, who improved to 7-2 on the season.

The T-Town junior varsity also won, posting a 2-1 victory.

T-Town will return to action today (Monday) at Pana.
