Approximately 35 total boys and girls cross country teams competed Saturday in the annual Bulldog Challenge, ran at Mid America Motorworks.

Mt. Zion captured the girls championship with a team score of 52. Effingham was fifth with 169, Teutopolis sixth with 182 and St. Anthony ninth with 209.

Olympia dominated the boys race, placing five runners in the top six positions and posting a winning score of 17 points, well ahead of runner-up Mattoon’s 80. St. Anthony ran third with 91, while Effingham was seventh with 170 and Teutopolis finished eighth with 197.

For the Lady Hearts, Kiley Weaver was 22nd in 20:33.25; Marah Kirk 25th in 20:49.11; Nicole Schniederjon 29th in 21:00.84; Daelyn Dunston 46th in 22:39.39; and Hope Monnet 47th in 22:49.93.

For the Lady Shoes, Jessica Runde led the way, finishing fifth with a time of 19:03.66. In addition, Abby Bloemer was 39th in 21:46.75; Tory Tensen 43rd in 22:12.87; Ella Zumbahlen 44th in 22:15.61; and Katie Kingery 51st in 24:09.23.

For St. Anthony, Katherine Slaughter was 36th in 21:29.77; Rilie Willenborg 38th in 21:45.3; Riley Guy 40th in 21:48.48; Audrey Niebrugge 45th in 22:21.33; and Jessica Wilson 50th in 24:08.65.

Brian Dust had the best race for the St. Anthony boys, finishing 10th in 16:16.21. Griffen Elder was 18th in 17:09.2; Conlan Walsh 20th in 17:12.25; Noah Tegeler 21st in 17:17.99; and Ty Wiedman 22nd in 17:18.87.

For the Hearts, Alfredo Lopez finished 16th in 17:05.36; Clayton Cramsey 28th in 17:43.05; Zeel Patel 36th in 18:03.95; Andrew Donaldson 39th in 18:20.11; and Garrett Wagoner 51st in 18:55.66.

For Teutopolis, Cole Probst finished 31st in 17:53.06; Ethan Weidner 35th in 18:00.26; Ben Kitten 41st in 18:26.97; Matthew Deters 44th in 18:37.19; Brody Mette 46th in 18:41.62.
