The St. Anthony runners dominated Tuesday afternoon, en route to capturing both the boys and girls championship of the National Trail Conference Cross Country Meet.

In the boys race, the Bulldogs claimed five of the top nine spots and posted 24 team points to easily beat runner-up Altamont, who finished with 65 points. Neoga was third with 86, followed by Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 92 and Dieterich 95.

The Lady Bulldogs had three runners in the top six and finished with 30 team sports. Neoga was second with 40 and CHBC third with 50. Dieterich, Altamont and North Clay also had runners compete, but did not have enough to earn a team score.

Brian Dust was the overall winner in the boys race. He turned in a time of 16:18, which was nearly a minute ahead of runner-up and teammate, Noah Tegeler, who was clocked in 17:12. Rounding out the team score were Conlan Walsh, 6th, in 17:30; Ty Wiedman, 7th, in 17:44; and Griffin Elder, 8th, in 17:47.

Other runners for St. Anthony were Mick Willenborg, 9th, in 18:19; Austin Faber, 11th, in 18:36; Nick Wiedman, 12th, in 18:53; James Schuette, 23rd, in 20:03; Max Sager, 24th, in 20:04; and Nate Braun, 32nd, in 23:58.

Rilie Willenborg led the Lady Bulldogs, finishing second in 21:24. Neoga’s Maggie Clark was the overall winner with a time of 21:12.

Completing the scoring for St. Anthony were Riley Guy, 5th, in 22:11; Katherine Slaughter, 6th, 22:15; Audrey Niebrugge, 13th, in 23:43; and Jessica Wilson, 17th, in 24:41. Abby Dietzen also ran for the Lady Bulldogs and had a time of 30:14.

St. Anthony will host the Bulldog Classic Saturday at Mid-America Motorworks. Effingham and Teutopolis will also compete.
