The word “dominate” has been used to describe most of the Teutopolis tennis victories this fall.

And there’s no better word to use again after the Lady Shoes performance in the Apollo Conference Tennis Tournament, played in Effingham.

T-Town captured first place in eight of the nine events to easily capture the conference championship with 60 points. Mattoon was runner-up with 44 points, followed by Effingham with 37, Mt. Zion 22, Mahomet-Seymour 20, Charleston 20 and Lincoln 5.

Teutopolis is competing in the Apollo Conference this year due to COVID-19 and the difficulty in scheduling matches.

Macy Probst, Grace Hoene, Isabelle Hemmen, Carley Habing and Olivia Hemmen all won singles titles, while the doubles teams of Probst/I. Hemmen, Kenna Koester/Lexi Will and Hoene/O. Hemmen also emerged as champions.

The Lady Hearts had four second place finishes – Gracie Kroenlein and Madison Mapes in singles; and the doubles teams of Riley Arend/Mapes and Aila Woomer/Kroenlein.

There were nine girls from the competing schools that were named to the All-Apollo Conference Tennis Team – Probst, Hoene, I. Hemmen and Habing from T-Town; Arend, Eden Wendling and Lydia Kull from Effingham; and Emily Stortzum and Tess Huene from Mattoon.
