Morgan Schuette and Reagan Westendorf teamed to shoot the low round of the day, helping St. Anthony win the girls division of the Tuscola Golf Invitational.

The format included three two-person teams from each participating school. Six holes were played as a scramble, six using alternate shots and six using the best ball. Two of the three scores were counted toward the team total.

The Schuette/Westendorf duo turned in an 80. The team of Nina Hakman/Maddy Brummer shot 89, giving St. Anthony a 169 total. Jessica Coffin and Cara Hakman also participated and shot a 92.

The Lady Bulldogs will play at Olney on Thursday.

St. Anthony placed three golfers in the top 10 Saturday and finished in second place at the Alton Marquette Blastoff.

Macy Ludwig turned in a round of 79 to finish second individually and help the Lady Bulldogs to a team total of 351. O’Fallon was the team champion with a total of 336.

The Effingham Lady Hearts also had three golfers in the top 10 and finished sixth in the 18-team field with a 383 total.

Ava Boehm shot an 83 and tied for 3rd overall, while Kennedy Collier finished in a 5th place tie with an 85 and Morgan Krouse tied for 9th with a 90. Anna Sigg rounded out the team scoring with a 125. Jaelyn Boone (127) and Madilyn Stortzum (150) also competed.

For St. Anthony, Reagan Westendorf shot an 84 and Ellie Wegman had a 92 to place 4th and 10th respectively. Lauren Schwing had a 96 to complete the team scoring. Morgan Schuette (96) and Nina Hakman (97) also competed for the Lady Bulldogs.

St. Anthony will return to action today (Monday) at the Tuscola Invitational and then travel to Oblong on Thursday.

Effingham will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Mattoon.

The St. Anthony Bulldogs made the long drive to Macomb Saturday and placed fifth in the 15-team Gary Saunders Invitational, played at the Macomb Country Club.

The host Bombers were the tournament champions, finishing with a total of 315 strokes. Hillsboro was a close second with 316, followed by Bloomington Central Catholic at 329, Bloomington 339 and St. Anthony 346.

Jayden Rios and Thomas Chojnicki led the team, as both shot 18-hole scores of 85. Jonathan Willenborg and Ryan Schultz both recorded an 88 to complete the team scoring. Michael Martelli (96) and Luke Flaig (117) also competed for the Bulldogs.

St. Anthony will compete today (Monday) in the Champaign Centennial Invitational.
